Glug Community Manager
Reports to: Ian & Nick
Contract details: 40 hours per week (Flexible timings), 3 month FTC
Based: Farringdon, London
Salary: 22-30k DOE

Job purpose: The Community Manager is the recognised face of Glug, managing all communications into and out of the organisation. This digital-savvy employee is responsible for all digital activity, PR, social media, event co-ordination and content creation. Using online tools and face-to-face networking, the Community Manager creates relationships and ultimately builds the Glug brand, both off and online. They also take a lead role in organising and producing the showcase London event.

Roles & responsibilities:

Content creation
– Writing blog posts, articles, email newsletters, communications materials, and tailored material for social media channels.
– Creation of a content calendar.
– Liaising with Glug partners and event organisers to develop content for Glug channels.

Social media marketing
– Creating, managing and growing Glug’s presence through blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and other strategically relevant online properties.

Events and event planning
– Attending industry events in London (often outside of 9-5 hours).
– Planning our Glug London showcase event.
– Event management of the London events.

Public relations
– Working as the point of contact with Glug’s PR agency.
– Managing incoming media requests and building relationships with industry journalists.
– Creating, executing and measuring media campaigns.

Customer relations
– Responsible for Glug member and customer support, answering questions however they come in (phone, e-mail, Twitter etc) and managing any online feedback forums.
- Responsible to continuously liaise and support with internal partners, chapter hosts and sponsors. 

Analytics and research
– Using Google Analytics and other measurement tools to provide reports on metrics, and continually find ways to improve on those metrics through testing and new initiatives.

Communications and marketing strategy
– Responsible for creating yearly strategic marketing/communications plans to provide direction for Glug’s public facing communications.
– Presenting at regular monthly marketing meetings to review, and if necessary adapt, the marketing plan.

Key attributes we’re looking for:

Outgoing personality
– The Community Manager will be required to walk into networking events and be comfortable introducing themselves to strangers. 

Writing skills
 
– Experience in journalism or other writing should be demonstrated, as the Community Manager will write and edit a great deal of content.

Social media experience
 
– Experience with using social media tools for business needs is essential. Experience navigating WordPress, and using Twitter and Facebook for business are a bonus.

Interest in design and creativity
 
– Glug is all about celebrating the creative community. The Community Manager must be passionate about what they do, with a keen interest in design, fashion, creativity, video and animation.

Willingness to work flexibly
 
– The job involves working some evenings and weekends, and responding to Glug members outside of usual work hours. Hours must be meticulously logged so that time in the office can be balanced over the course of each week.

‘Good’ employee
– Great time management skills, ability to multitask and intelligence – this is especially important since the Community Manager will be involved with many different areas of Glug.

PR experience
– Having experience with PR is a nice to have, but support will be given by our PR agency.

Culture fit 
– Glug is a fast-moving organisation, and forward-thinking needs to combine well with day-to-day tasks. The role is based in Studio Output’s London office, so it’s important that the Community Manager is comfortable and able to fit into a studio culture.
