Oxford Launch Party

Glug Oxford Launch Party, Modern Art Oxford, Wed Sep 23, 7pm.

Oxford becomes the latest worldwide city to launch a chapter of Glug, the global meetup and network for designers and creatives. The launch event, which is open to everyone who wants to connect with the design community, takes place Wednesday September 23, 7pm at Modern Art Oxford. The event will be a celebration of creativity, an opportunity to make new friends, discover interesting and exciting topics and the beginnings of a strong, talented creative community in Oxford.

Glug Oxford founders are Ben Hutchins of Hutchhouse, Colin Cather of Bottle and Sarah Plant and Jo Lankester of White October. The group are proud to announce that speakers will include Brendan Dawes, a boundless designer exploring the interaction of objects, people & technology and Berliner Benson’s Mike Benson, a renowned storyteller and creative director. There will also be a round of Lightning Talks and a bar.

On launching Oxford’s Glug Sarah Plant says: “Glug is famous among creatives for its vibrant talks and events, and we’re thrilled that Oxford is has become Glug’s most recent chapter. Our city has a strong design and creative community ranging from illustration, theatre, digital design and tech to photography and art and we’re proud to be teaming up with Modern Art Oxford, the city’s showcase for international contemporary work. We want to see everyone who is working, studying or interested in connecting with the Oxford creative scene at this exciting launch!”

The current Modern Art Oxford exhibitions will also be open on the night: the first solo show of New York-based artist Josh Kline ‘Stop the War Coalition fantasy world’ and a retrospective of ‘60’s pop artist Kiki Kogelnik’s ‘Fly me to the moon.’ Read the shows’ review by Tim Adams at The Guardian here.
