THURSDAY 1st NOVEMBER (Shoreditch Town Hall) – Tickets @ £10 – all seated
Glug London presents ‘Welcome to the Future‘ an evening of New Tech wonder-ness and magical design. Speaking at the event we have:
Yancey Strickler is cofounder of Kickstarter, a funding platform for creative projects. His writing has appeared in New York Magazine, Pitchfork, Spin, and the Village Voice, among other publications. He lives in New York City and has personally backed more than 700 Kickstarter projects.
Kickstarter is a funding platform for creative projects. Everything from films, games, and music to art, design, and technology. Kickstarter is full of ambitious, innovative, and imaginative projects that are brought to life through the direct support of others.
The masters of live installation digital art. We’ve cooed at their work for Massive Attack, Battles, their Volume exhibit at the V&A and the stage set for Coachella. Ash, Chris and team will be talking us through their work and their approach to running a new technology business..
We’re huge fans of Serial Cut here at Glug and so are very lucky to have Sergio over from Spain to promote their work and his new book Extra Bold. You can see more about the project here (http://www.serialcut.com/extrabold), but in our humble opinion it’s going to be an absolute must have!
The mad hatters of the new tech world. Barney, Memo and Robin were meant to be speaking live but are now stuck in Mexico doing a live show, so we’ve arranged for a special live stream of the show on the big screens. You won’t be disappointed though as they talk you through some of the incredible projects they’ve done for Saatchi’s New Director’s Showcase, PlayStation, McLaren F1 and a few other bits and pieces they are currently developing.
These guys represent everything that is new and exciting about London’s creative design and technology scene. They’ll be talking through their work for clients including Tate, Dewars, Coke and Intel. Also this is potentially the best ‘designers wearing glasses’ press photo I’ve ever seen: http://www.hellicarandlewis.com/about
Formed in 2005 by brothers Jody and Luke, Hudson-Powell is a design studio working in print, branding, interactive and motion graphics. Both Luke and Jody studied Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins with Jody going on to do the Virtual Environments MSC at Bartlett school of Architecture. The studio’s design principles focus on the dual development of concept and medium with clients in the arts, education and business. The studio also works on self initiated projects which have been shown at various exhibitions including ‘Brno Echo’ at the Moravian Gallery (CZ), ‘Forms of Inquiry’ (UK, FR, CH), and in the solo show ‘Responsive Type’ at SoSo gallery (JP).
As you can see it’s a hell of a line-up! Tickets are more expensive this time @ £10 but still cheap for a talks event.
