hellohead is a portrait-swap curated by Lucy Joy and Rosie Shorter (curator at Glug Brighton) with over 60 illustrators and designers participating in order to raise funds for the National Autistic Society. Each illustrator’s name was drawn out of a hat and paired up at random, resulting in a collection of fantastic portraits.hellohead began as a fun drawing exercise between Lucy and a few friends, which kept growing until over 60 illustrators had agreed to take part. Realising this was going to be a larger project than just a drawing exercise, hellohead was born!
Lucy volunteers at the National Autistic Society and decided that it would be great to raise awareness and money for the charity, so asked artists within the National Autistic Society to be involved in the portrait swap project too. This year the National Autistic Society celebrates its 50th Birthday and the theme is ‘friendship’ so through the portrait swap they hope they can create links between the artists.
Rosie and Lucy have worked together organising art events, so got together to plan the exhibition which will include an art auction, live portrait drawing and interactive set design. You can bid on the print of your choice at the silent auction on the evening, 100% of the profits will be going to the National Autistic Society. They have some wonderful companies listed below who have kindly agreed to be involved with this non profit event.
A Tea Towel designed by Marcus Oakley especially for hellohead will be available soon here, all profits will be going to the National Autistic Society.
